Carlsbad, CA – Pettit Kohn Shareholder, Valerie Garcia Hong, was honored by the Filipino American Cultural Organization (“FACO”) with the HIYAS Award in Carlsbad, California on December 12, 2016. The HIYAS Award is given to Southern California’s influential and successful Filipino Americans. Valerie was recognized for outstanding achievement in the field of law and her commitment to service in the Filipino American community. “I’m honored to receive this award from FACO, a wonderful organization that is committed to supporting Filipino Americans with services and scholarships,” said Hong.
Valerie has successfully represented individuals, small businesses, and large Fortune 500 companies for ten years. She has helped individuals and families when they are seriously injured in an accident or suffered a tragic loss. Valerie has also advised small business owners navigate complicated legal disputes.
FACO is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that provides youth education, language classes, and services to Filipinos in Southern California and in the Philippines. FACO donated over $10,000 to disaster relief following the typhoon in Tacloban, Philippines and $5,000 to the House of the Philippines in Balboa Park.
