Katy Cummings

Katy A. Cummings brings over a decade of civil litigation experience to her practice at Pettit Kohn. She has represented companies in premises liability, products liability, and automotive matters. Katy has handled all aspects of litigation, including party and expert depositions, mediation, and motion practice. Katy is licensed to practice before all courts in the State of California, as well as the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
Prior to joining Pettit Kohn, Katy was a team leader and senior associate at a California-based insurance-defense law firm, where she represented businesses as varied as grocery stores, restaurants, general contractors, and pest-control specialists. She has successfully written and argued multiple motions for summary judgment, and prepared the winning Respondents’ Brief for what would become the published decision in Moore v. William Jessup University (2015) 243 Cal.App.4th 427.
Katy received her Juris Doctor from American University, Washington College of Law, where she was an Editor of the Administrative Law Review and a Student Attorney with the Domestic Violence Clinic. After law school, Katy practiced law in Massachusetts for three years, before returning to her home state of California, where she has practiced since 2011.
