Melissa J. Thorsson is an associate attorney in Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin’s Employment and Labor practice group. Melissa is a California-licensed attorney with more than a decade of experience advising businesses and individuals across a broad range of corporate, employment, and commercial matters. She has represented clients in all stages of the business lifecycle both in and out of the courtroom, from business formation to ongoing compliance, active defense litigation, and ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.

Melissa has extensive experience counseling small to mid-size California and Oregon businesses on complex legal and operational issues, with a practical, solutions-oriented approach. Her background includes employment defense, including pre-litigation demands and settlements, litigation defense throughout a case lifecycle, and preventative training in employment issues to help educate employers to navigate complex and evolving California law.

Melissa earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she served as an editor of the International Law Journal and won the Moot Court Competition. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from University of California, Berkeley.
