Elika S. Morris is an associate attorney in Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin’s San Diego office. She focuses her practice on the defense of retail litigation matters including product liability, premises liability, and personal injury.

Prior to joining Pettit Kohn, Elika served as in-house counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, where she advised on personal injury, subrogation, and other insurance defense matters in the Primary Litigation Unit.

Elika earned her Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law. While attending law school, she worked as a clinical intern for the California Innocence Project (CIP), where she vigorously advocated against wrongful convictions from trial, appellate, and legislative viewpoints. She also served as an ASL interpreter in legal visits for CIP inmates. Her advocacy contributed to the release of a client on one of her assigned cases in 2018. Elika’s service for the CIP inspired her to serve as a Deputy Public Defender for the Office of the Public Defender in San Diego County during the early stages of her career. There, she drafted and successfully argued motions before the Superior Court of the State of California in favor of record expungements, certificates of rehabilitation, and other post-conviction relief.

Ms. Morris received the Distinguished Advocate award for participating in the moot court competition during her time at CWSL. She was also recognized as the Anson Levitan Scholarship award recipient for the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. Additionally, Elika served as the President of the Black Law Student Association, where she collaborated with other organizations, including the NAACP, for the 32nd Annual State Convention for California and Hawaii. There she served as an advocate, mentor, and judge for youth participants.
