Trial Attorneys Andrew N. Kohn & Aleksandra Romell Win Defense Verdict on Behalf of Large National Retail Client

Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin trial attorneys Andrew N. Kohn and Aleksandra Romell recently secured a defense verdict on behalf of a national retail client in a slip-and-fall case filed in Ventura County Superior Court.

Plaintiff sued Defendant for premises liability and general negligence after slipping and falling in the Defendant’s store vestibule. Plaintiff claimed she suffered significant, permanent and life-altering injuries as a result of the slip-and-fall, and three post-fall surgeries. She claimed that Defendant failed to maintain the premises in a way to avoid exposing her to an unreasonable risk of harm.

Mr. Kohn and Ms. Romell were persuasive and precise in the prosecution of their client’s defense at trial. At the end of the three-week trial, Mr. Kohn and Ms. Romell were able to prove through meticulous demonstration of evidence, witness examination and argument that their client was not negligent in the care and maintenance of their premises. Though Plaintiff asked the jury to return a verdict in excess of $50 million for future economic loss and pain and suffering damages, the jury ultimately returned a defense verdict, finding that Pettit Kohn’s client was not liable for the incident.
